Is it permissible for an author to produce a series that offends people of innovation (Ahl al-Bidʻah), knowing that he previously produced a similar series that was banned from broadcast?

The default is that it is impermissible to harm people without a legitimate religious right, except in retaliation against someone who has caused harm, based on the Almighty's saying: "And the retribution for an evil is an evil equivalent to it." It is permissible for those in authority to deter an oppressor. The truth must be explained to innovators with wisdom, gentleness, and kindness, based on the Almighty's saying: "Invite to the way of your Lord with wisdom and good counsel, and argue with them in a way that is best." It is permissible to refute those who are fanatically devoted to falsehood, to speak harshly to them, and to silence them if a greater harm is not feared, as in the Almighty's saying: "O Prophet, strive against the disbelievers and the hypocrites and be harsh upon them." If innovators insult the Companions, it is permissible to respond by criticizing them, based on the Almighty's saying: "Allah does not like the public mention of evil except by one who has been wronged." It is stipulated that this should not lead to a greater trial or greater harm, as in the Almighty's saying: "And do not insult those they invoke other than Allah, lest they insult Allah in enmity without knowledge."
