Is it permissible to designate the Companions who witnessed Badr, or the Pledge of Al-Ridwan, or the Battle of the Sea, for Paradise or forgiveness, based on the hadiths mentioned in their merit, such as the Prophet’s (peace be upon him) saying to the people of Badr: "Do what you wish, for I have forgiven you," or "Paradise is guaranteed for you"?

Those for whom a specific textual proof from Islamic law has been established that they are definitively among the people of Paradise are attested to as such with certainty. Examples include the ten companions given glad tidings of Paradise, the people of Badr and Al-Hudaybiyah, and the first army to fight at sea, among whom was Mu'awiyah, may Allah be pleased with him. As for the rest of the Companions who died upon faith, we attest to their entry into Paradise in a general sense, based on the words of Allah Almighty: "And the first forerunners [in the faith] among the Muhajireen and the Ansar and those who followed them with good conduct - Allah is pleased with them and they are pleased with Him, and He has prepared for them Gardens beneath which rivers flow, wherein they will abide forever. That is the great attainment." {At-Tawbah: 100}.
