Is zakat obligatory on land intended for trade after ten years of ownership, and is it permissible to give zakat to a needy husband to pay off his debts and living expenses, and is it permissible to buy household necessities from it?

Zakat (definition) is not obligatory on land that was not intended for trade at the time of its acquisition. This is the view of the majority of scholars. As for giving zakat to a poor husband or one in debt, it is permissible according to Imam Shafi'i and a group of scholars, who cited the hadith (definition) of Zaynab, the wife of Ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with both of them). In this case, it is stipulated that the husband must take possession of the zakat properly; it is not permissible to directly purchase household necessities with it.
