What is the Nasafi creed?
The author of Al-Aqida al-Nasafiyyah (The Nasafi Creed) is Abu Hafs Umar ibn Muhammad al-Nasafi al-Hanafi. He was born in 461 AH and died in 537 AH. He was a master of various sciences and authored approximately one hundred works. Sa’d al-Din al-Taftazani wrote a commentary on his book, and this commentary contains many errors and illusions, among them the assertion of the possibility of the Kaaba moving to visit a saint. Al-Sam’ani said about al-Nasafi: "He was not blessed with understanding of hadith." The al-Nasafi who authored Al-Aqida al-Nasafiyyah is different from Abu al-Barakat Abd al-Rahman al-Nasafi, the author of the tafsir (Qur'anic exegesis).
