What should a man do who was subjected to fraud in his first marriage, and is now married to a woman he does not desire, and he wishes to marry another woman who possesses the qualities he longs for? Can he build a happy family consisting of two wives, and is this permissible?
The matter is easy. Be good to your wife and fear Allah concerning her. Marrying a second wife is your right. To live happily with two wives, give each her legitimate right of maintenance, housing, and conjugal relations in a goodly manner. Be just between them in what you are capable of, encourage them in Islamic morals, and be close to Allah. We alert you that your tone at the end of your question suggests an objection to Allah's ruling, which is a serious matter requiring repentance. Allah's law is entirely good and came to bring about benefit and ward off harm. There are many benefits in polygyny. Jealousy among women is a common occurrence.
