What is the difference between the religion of Islam and the religion of a Muslim, or are they one and the same?
Islam is submission to Allah through monotheism, obeying Him in compliance, and disavowing polytheism and its adherents. It is the religion Allah has chosen for His servants. Allah Almighty says: (Indeed, the religion in the sight of Allah is Islam) (Al Imran/19), and (And whoever desires a religion other than Islam, it will never be accepted from him, and in the Hereafter he will be among the losers) (Al Imran/85). One who enters it is called a Muslim because of his submission and obedience to the commands of Allah and His Messenger, as in the words of Allah Almighty: (When his Lord said to him, "Submit," he said, "I have submitted to the Lord of the worlds") (Al-Baqarah/130-131), and (Yes, whoever submits his face to Allah while being a doer of good - then he will have his reward with his Lord. And no fear will there be concerning them, nor will they grieve) (Al-Baqarah/112).
