Is it permissible to purchase alcohol as a gift, or not?
For a sales contract to be valid, the sold item must be pure, permissible, and lawfully beneficial, with no prohibition regarding it. All these conditions are absent in the case of alcohol (khamr). When Allah the Almighty prohibits something, He also prohibits its sale and purchase. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, cursed the Jews because when animal fats were forbidden to them, they sold them and consumed their price. Gifting alcohol is considered aiding in sin, and Allah the Almighty says: "And cooperate in righteousness and piety, but do not cooperate in sin and aggression." Therefore, it is not permissible to buy alcohol for gifting or for any other purpose.
