What should a student do who studies at a mixed-gender university, and within his field of vision are unveiled female students, knowing that this gaze is long, repetitive, and constant, and not a sudden glance? Is he sinful for what he sees out of necessity? And what action should be taken to avoid this temptation?

Mixing in educational institutions is a tribulation and evil that leads to the spread of indecency and the loss of morals. The basic rule is that it is not permissible to be present or study in them unless it is the only way to acquire a specific knowledge and there is no other option, and with conditions including lowering the gaze and avoiding seclusion.

If looking at the professor necessitates looking at the girls in a way that makes it impossible to avert the gaze, then this is a serious matter that is not permissible to continue, and one should search for another university free from this prohibition, for religion is the most precious thing a person possesses.

If no other option is available and necessity dictates continuing in the same university, then effort must be made to remain in a place where girls are not between the student and the professor, and to strive to lower the gaze, accompany the righteous, and cooperate with them in calling to good. It is also possible to try to persuade the university administration to separate male and female students, even within the classroom.
