The question

What is the legitimate Sharia-compliant way to recover from losing interest in life, losing passion for acts of worship, feeling comfortable when committing sins, and feeling compelled to think and isolate oneself, while desiring treatment through ruqyah and supplication without resorting to psychiatric hospitals?

The answer

Comfort and happiness are attained through obedience to Allah the Almighty and drawing near to Him, as His saying testifies: "Whoever does righteousness, whether male or female, while he is a believer - We will surely cause him to live a good life." One must strive against their own self and compel it to obedience, for every pleasure derived from disobedience is an illusion and an embellishment from Satan. We advise reading the book "Ad-Daa' wa Ad-Dawaa'" (The Disease and the Cure) by Ibn Al-Qayyim, striving in obedience to Allah, making abundant supplications, and performing Shar'iyyah by reciting Al-Fatihah, Al-Mu'awwidhat (Surahs Al-Falaq and An-Nas), and Ayatul-Kursi. One must also think positively of Allah and rid oneself of negative thoughts. There is no objection to consulting a trusted psychiatrist, for souls fall ill just as bodies do, and seeking medical treatment does not contradict ruqyah and supplications.
