The ruling on slandering chaste persons is not exclusive to married women. Chastity (ihsan) in the context of the حد (prescribed punishment) for slander includes both men and women, married and unmarried, as long as they are free, Muslim, sane, chaste, and adult.
Scholars have differed regarding the condition of adulthood: some have stipulated it, while others have not.
