What is the wisdom behind prayer being "a prescribed ordinance"?

Prayer is the connection between the servant and his Lord, the joy of supplicating to Him, and the path to success and atonement for sins. Allah Almighty says: "Successful indeed are the believers, those who humble themselves in their prayers." Prayer teaches order, respect for time, focusing the mind on what is beneficial, and submission to Allah. The majority of scholars believe that the determination of prayer times is an act of worship. Some have explained this by relating it to the stages of human life: Fajr represents the beginning of creation, Dhuhr represents youth and middle age, Asr represents old age, Maghrib represents death, and Isha represents the annihilation of the body.
