Is it obligatory to marry a religious woman with the intention of chastity if the opportunity arises, even if the young man does not find her appealing because she is overweight or unattractive in his view, and he is twenty years old and still a student? Will he be rewarded and enriched by Allah later if he accepts marrying her to preserve his chastity, even though he is 100% financially incapable?
A man should choose a wife based on her religiosity and character, as the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Marry the religious woman, and may your hands be soiled [with dust, i.e., may you prosper]." Nevertheless, there is no sin upon a young man if he does not wish to marry her. If he marries her with the intention of safeguarding her chastity and his own, he will be rewarded for it. There is no harm in seeking worldly matters like beauty, wealth, or lineage. The Sunnah encouraged marrying a virgin and a fertile woman.
The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, rejected Mu'awiyah's proposal for Fatimah bint Qays due to his poverty, and Abu Jahm's due to his harshness. These matters are complementary to religiosity, not its foundation. Marriage is good whenever it is possible to hasten to it. If a Muslim has a good intention in it, Allah will help him. The fact that a young man is a student of knowledge does not prevent him from marrying; he may find among women and guardians those who are content with little. If marriage is not feasible, let him be patient, avoid temptations, and do what helps him maintain chastity, such as fasting.
