The disapproval of the parents does not affect the validity of the marriage contract. Rather, the presence of the woman's guardian (wali) or his representative is required. If the suitor is suitable for the woman, her guardian does not have the right to prevent her from marrying, and she can refer her case to the judge. Documenting the marriage contract is necessary in this era to avoid corruption and the loss of rights. Furthermore, acquaintance between non- men and women (a love relationship) is not approved by Islamic law and is a gateway to fitna (temptation/strife).
