How does a debtor overcome obsessive-compulsive disorder regarding attributing good deeds to Allah, the Almighty, and the obsession with innovation (bid'ah), given his feeling of not lowering his gaze from unlawful things, and his falling in love with a girl he does not see as suitable for him?

Performing acts of obedience is by the grace and success granted by Allah, and self-admiration vanishes upon realizing this. To cure the weakness of fear of Allah, malice, and other diseases of the heart, and to strengthen faith, one must practice piety (taqwa (definition)) and avoid sins. Your feeling that your ordinary speech is an innovation (bid'ah) is a [satanic] whisper (waswasa); its cure is to ignore it and busy yourself with the remembrance of Allah and the recitation of the Qur'an. Lowering the gaze bequeaths the sweetness of faith, the light of the heart, its strength, and its courage, while sins weaken the soul and bring punishment. The temptation of women is dangerous; if you are unable to marry, then you must fast.
