Does using a siwak break the fast of a fasting person if they take out the siwak with their saliva on it, then suck the saliva and swallow it?
A fasting person's use of the miswak during the day does not harm the validity of the fast, because the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, encouraged the use of the miswak at all times. However, if a fasting person puts the miswak into his mouth until it becomes wet with his saliva, then takes it out, then puts it back in and intentionally swallows the wetness that was on it, then his fast is broken. But if he does that by mistake or forgetfulness, it does not harm him.
