How should I deal with those who choose from the verses of the Quran what suits their whims and forsake everything else?

Allah condemned those who differentiate between the verses of the Qur'an, believing in some and disbelieving in others. He promised them humiliation in this world and the severest torment on the Day of Judgment, calling them "عضين" (parts), meaning those who divide. He made them like the People of the Book who fragmented the scripture, believing in some parts and disbelieving in others. This meaning is most suitable for the context and the understanding of the Companions.

Indeed, the behavior of those who follow their whims and distort the verses of the Qur'an is a path of misguidance. Such people seek out the ambiguous verses to align with their desires and intentions, while disregarding the clear and unambiguous ones. It is incumbent upon a servant to rid themselves of self-interest and motives that contradict the will of Allah and His Messenger, and they must strive to achieve this.

Dealing with those who do this involves advising them for the sake of Allah's Book, which means inviting them to the methodology of the Qur'an, adhering to its rulings, acting upon all its verses, and warning against paths of error, causes of misguidance, and deviation.
