Must a husband leave his job and his children's future to stay with his father in his home country, to assist him morally with the problems of his adult, married siblings, knowing that the father is not in need financially or health-wise, and refuses to travel?
The husband must obey his father's command to return and live with him and help him solve the problems. Indeed, Allah may open for him, because of this dutifulness, immense good beyond imagination. "And you will not abandon anything for the sake of Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, but Allah will give you something better than it." His obedience may become obligatory if the father is greatly distressed by the problems and there is no way to solve them except by the son's return. If there is no harm, then it is not obligatory.
The husband can try to convince his father to stay abroad, and strive to solve the problems by contacting his brothers or seeking help from wise people, or he can take a temporary leave to solve the problems and then return to his work.
If the husband decides to return, the wife must avoid anxiety and be patient. We commend the wife for her eagerness to encourage her husband to be dutiful to his father.
