The answer

The rights of parents are great, and you must honor them and be good to them in every way, because Allah Almighty says: "And your Lord has decreed that you worship none but Him. And to parents, good treatment. Whether one or both of them reach old age [while] with you, say not to them [even] 'uff,' and do not repel them but speak to them a noble word. And lower to them the wing of humility out of mercy and say, 'My Lord, have mercy upon them as they brought me up [when I was] small.'" (Al-Isra: 23-24), and His saying: "And We have enjoined upon man [care] for his parents. His mother carried him with hardship and gave birth to him with hardship, and his gestation and weaning [period] is thirty months." (Al-Ahqaf: 15). If they ask you to return or need you, you must go back to them. If they do not ask you to return and do not need you, then you are not obliged to return, especially with the difficulty of finding work near them, while making sure to check on their conditions, ask about them, and spend on them if they are in need. And appoint someone trustworthy to arrange their needs if they cannot do it themselves.
