The answer

Among the husband's duties are providing suitable housing and spending on his wife "according to what is reasonable" (bil-ma'ruf). The wife is not obligated to provide for him, but if she assists her husband, it is a noble deed. If the husband becomes unable to provide maintenance, the wife has the right to seek separation through the judiciary, but her patience is more preferable. This right belongs solely to the wife, and her guardian may not intervene except with advice. Obedience to the husband takes precedence over obedience to parents, and it is not permissible for the wife to leave or move from her husband's house except with his permission. If the husband refuses the job offered by the father, it is not permissible to obey the father in this regard. The spouses should repent and cooperate in acts of obedience, for piety is a cause of blessings.
