The existence of an age gap between spouses is common and is not considered a religious impediment or a negative influence unless there is weakness in religious commitment and character, or another impediment that prevents the fulfillment of marital duties. As for exaggerating the dowry due to an age gap, there is no prohibition in it, though it is preferable not to. If they agree upon a specific dowry, it must be paid in full. mut'ah (temporary marriage) is forbidden, and the rights of the first wife must be preserved, and her companionship honored.
