What is the ruling on selling one's right to go on Hajj after their name has come up in the lottery?
The prohibited bribe is that by which falsehood is established or truth is annulled. It is absolutely forbidden for the receiver of the bribe. As for the briber, there is no sin upon him if he is compelled to pay it to obtain his right or to ward off harm from himself and his property. As for selling the Hajj lottery ticket, it is not permissible because it is not considered property [mal mutamawwal] legally or customarily, and because the buyer is not entitled to it.
