Is it permissible for someone to take a date found in the mosque, with my permission, with the intention of giving it away in charity?
Shaykh Abd al-Rahman al-Barrak states that the questioner erred in his action, and he should ascertain the intention of the one who placed the charity: was it for eating or for unrestricted taking? If it was for eating, then it is not permissible to take all of it. The Shaykh is of the view that the charity has reached its rightful owner, and nothing is incumbent upon the one who disposed of it.
