Is the dissection of human cadavers as part of the curriculum in medical school permissible or forbidden (halal or haram)?

The summary of the fatwas issued by the Fiqh Councils and scientific committees regarding the dissection of human cadavers for the purpose of teaching medicine is that there is no harm in it, provided that the cadaver is not that of a person whose blood is sacrosanct (ma‘sum al-dam), and that the dissection does not exceed the extent of need and necessity.
