Is the Shahadah valid with the elongation of the alif in (illa) or with the satiation of the fat-hah of its lam?
The fundamental rule in the language of the majority of Arabs is not to prolong (madd) when two quiescent letters meet, as the poet says: "If two quiescent letters meet, break (kasr) the preceding one And if it is a soft letter, its omission is more fitting." However, in Arabic poetry, it has been observed that the quiescent alif is prolonged before a quiescent letter, and the hamzat al-wasl (connecting hamza) is actualized, such as in the poet's verse: "Behold, I see no two nobler in character In the vicissitudes of time than me and Jamal." This is considered a poetic necessity, and no analogy should be drawn from it. Therefore, prolongation is not permissible outside of poetic necessity.
