What is the ruling on cupping for treatment purposes?

Cupping is prescribed for treatment according to the Prophet's (peace and blessings be upon him) , both through his actions and sayings. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) himself underwent cupping, and he guided towards it by saying: "If there is any good in any of your medicines, it is in a cupper’s scarification, or a drink of honey, or a cauterization with fire," and he forbade cauterization. This indicates the permissibility of cupping and its benefit, by Allah's permission.
