What is the ruling on cupping for treatment purposes?

Cupping is prescribed for treatment according to the Prophet's (peace and blessings be upon him) Sunnah, both through his actions and sayings. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) himself underwent cupping, and he guided towards it by saying: "If there is any good in any of your medicines, it is in a cupper’s scarification, or a drink of honey, or a cauterization with fire," and he forbade cauterization. This indicates the permissibility of cupping and its benefit, by Allah's permission.
