ما هو مصدر الفتوى التي تحرم التحدث مع المرأة الأجنبية عبر الهاتف؟

It is permissible for a man to address a woman and for a woman to address a man directly or over the phone to achieve a legitimate Sharia objective, such as teaching religious or worldly sciences, if there is no woman capable of performing the task with the same quality. The proof for this is the action of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, with women, as mentioned in the hadith of Abu Sa’id Al-Khudri, may Allah be pleased with him. In this case, it is stipulated that the woman must not speak in a soft, alluring voice (khudu' bil qawl) or perform any action that leads to temptation (fitna).

However, if the discourse between the two genders is not related to a legitimate Sharia purpose or a worldly interest, then it is forbidden; because it leads to temptation (fitna). Many texts have been revealed encouraging the severance of ties between genders to avoid the causes of temptation, such as the Almighty's saying: "Then do not be soft in speech [to men], lest he in whose heart is disease should covet," and the Prophet's saying, peace and blessings be upon him: "I have not left behind me a temptation more harmful to men than women."
