How can I become a true Muslim?

Islam is the heart's submission to Allah the Almighty and adherence to the rulings of the Sharia. It is the outward manifestation of humility and acceptance of what the Messenger, peace be upon him, brought. The true Muslim worships Allah alone and associates nothing with Him, as Allah the Almighty says: "Say, 'Indeed, my prayer, my rites of sacrifice, my living and my dying are for Allah, Lord of the worlds. No partner has He. And this I have been commanded, and I am the first of the Muslims.'" A Muslim must not prioritize his intellect and desires over the law of Allah, "But no, by your Lord, they will not believe until they make you judge concerning that over which they dispute among themselves and then find within themselves no discomfort from what you have judged and submit in [full] submission." Whoever desires safety in his religion and salvation in the Hereafter must follow the methodology of the Ahlus-Sunnah wal-Jama'ah (People of the Sunnah and the Community) and the righteous predecessors.
