The question

Is a husband who is distressed because his fetus is female sinful, even though he knows that this is forbidden in the Quran and Sunnah, and given his feeling of the difficulty of raising girls in the Canadian environment in which he lives, and his inability to send her to Tunisia due to the ban on hijab there?

The answer

A mere inclination of the soul towards wanting male children is not blameworthy, as long as it does not manifest in discontent or action. Allah has forgiven the whisperings of the soul as long as they are not acted upon or spoken. One should strive to achieve contentment with Allah's decree, for everything Allah decrees is good. Remember the virtue of raising daughters. As for the difficulty of raising them in the West due to the state, an intelligent person should not dwell on it much, for residing in Western countries is a source of temptation and corruption for offspring. One should fear Allah and rely upon Him.
