What is the ruling on completing a doctoral dissertation that deals with developing a method to improve the performance of industrial and service institutions, knowing that this method may be used in unlawful industries or in supporting enemies of Muslims, and is stopping the completion of the dissertation now considered extremism or an obligatory act of piety?

There is no harm in completing a message (academic thesis/dissertation) from which non-Muslims can benefit, especially since the subject of the message is general, provided that it is not used for evil or against Muslims. Islamic law has permitted commercial dealings with disbelievers, including those at war, with the exception of selling them weapons. Dealing with disbelievers in buying, selling, leasing, and learning is not considered showing allegiance to them, as long as the Muslim harbors hatred for disbelief and its adherents in their heart. Muslims have dealt with disbelievers since the time of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, without any objection.
