Is it permissible to read religious books other than the Qur’an while performing tayammum due to an inability to purify oneself from urine or janabah?
If you have an excuse that permits prayer with , then what permits prayer permits lesser acts. Thus, tayammum is legislated for everything that one who purifies with water would do, when unable to use it, such as prayer, circumambulation (), prostration of recitation ( at-tilawah) and prostration of thankfulness (sujud ash-shukr), reciting the Qur’an, and touching the Mus'haf. If you intend tayammum for an obligatory prayer, it is permissible to perform both obligatory and supererogatory prayers. However, if you intend it for a supererogatory prayer, it is permissible for you to recite the Qur’an, touch the Mus'haf, and perform tawaf; because the supererogatory prayer is more emphatic than all of those.
