Does the husband's right to guardianship (qawamah) over his wife fall if the wife waives her right to financial support (nafaqah)?

Wine is the mother of all evils and one of the gravest major sins. Its drinker must abstain from it and repent. The wife must advise her husband, enjoin him to do good, and forbid him from this evil. If he does not respond to her, she has the right to seek a divorce. The children also should advise him gently and kindly. Advice is obligatory for all Muslims, and it is even more emphasized for close relatives. A man does not have absolute authority, and the ruler (wali al-amr) has the right to deter and punish him. A wife's waiver of her right to maintenance does not nullify the husband's right of qawamah, as qawamah is a guardianship of care and responsibility for the family. The wife's obedience to her husband is only in matters pertaining to marriage and its related aspects.
