Is it permissible to abort a pregnant rape victim whose fetus will be malformed and who is at risk of death due to the pregnancy?

There is no sin upon the raped woman who was unable to defend herself against the rape. However, she incurs sin if she aborts the fetus that could come to life, and the sin increases if the fetus has reached the stage of ensoulment, unless the continuation of the pregnancy poses a certain danger to the mother's life. It is not permissible for a woman to abort the fetus on the pretext that it will be born deformed. In all cases where abortion is prohibited, the sin falls upon everyone who participated in it.
