What is the ruling on wearing clothes made from the skins of animals whose meat is not permissible to eat?

It is permissible to wear the hides of dead animals after they have been tanned, absolutely, whether the animal was edible or not, and whether it was originally impure or not, because tanning purifies them. The permissibility of this is conditioned upon adhering to the শরী‘আ (Islamic law) guidelines for clothing, such as it not being an adornment in itself, or tight, or transparent, or perfumed; and that it does not resemble the clothing of disbelieving women, or immoral women, or men; and that it is not a garment of fame.
