Is foreplay with ejaculation, without penetration or touching of the vulva, considered a barrier to a Sunnah divorce?

1 min readAlso available in العربية

A "Sunni divorce" (talaq sunni) is when a man divorces his wife with a single pronouncement of divorce during a period of purity (tuhr) in which he has not had intercourse with her. He then leaves her until her waiting period (iddah) expires. This aligns with the commands of Allah and His Messenger.

As for an "innovative divorce" (talaq bid'i), it is when he divorces her three times, or during menstruation, or during a period of purity in which he had intercourse with her, or introduced his seminal fluid into her, or in the anus.

If no vaginal intercourse occurred and then a divorce took place, it is a Sunni divorce.
