Is persuading an ailing father with cancer to go to the hospital for treatment, despite his initial refusal and desire to stay home, considered an act of disobedience if he goes because of this persuasion?

Scholars have differed on the ruling concerning medical treatment (tadaawi). The preponderant view is that it is permissible to forgo it, unless there is a fear of death from the illness and the medication is certain to be beneficial, in which case treatment becomes obligatory. There is no harm in trying to persuade your father to seek hospital treatment in a kind manner, and this is not considered disobedience (ʿuqūq), even if he were to pass away there. We advise against despairing of recovery and recommend increasing supplications (duʿāʾ) and consulting experts.
