A wife is not obligated to work to provide for the children if her husband is present; for the husband is responsible for the financial support. However, it is permissible for a woman to volunteer for work if her work is free from unlawful mixing [with men], seclusion with men, speaking in a soft alluring manner, and displaying adornment.
