What is the ruling on inquiring about the essence of Allah when one is ignorant and not because of doubt, with supporting evidence?

There is no harm in an ignorant person asking about Allah Almighty as a learner. The best way to do so is to ask about the interpretation of verses and hadiths related to Allah, memorize them, and believe in all that is mentioned in the two revelations (Quran and Sunnah) as understood by the Companions. One should not strive for an excessive understanding of the reality of Allah's essence and attributes, because humans cannot encompass that knowledge. Evidence for the permissibility of asking about Allah Almighty is what was narrated by Ibn Abi Hatim and Al-Tabari, that a Bedouin asked the Prophet (peace be upon him): "Is our Lord near so we may whisper to Him, or far so we may call out to Him?" The Prophet (peace be upon him) remained silent, then Allah revealed: ﴿And when My servants ask you concerning Me, then [answer them], I am indeed near. I respond to the invocation of the supplicant when he calls upon Me﴾ [Al-Baqarah: 186]. The point of emphasis here is that the Prophet (peace be upon him) did not rebuke the Bedouin for his question.
