Is it a religious obligation for a Muslim student to respect teachers and fellow students at school?

A Muslim's respect for his fellow Muslim is a religious obligation, as evidenced by texts from the Quran and Sunnah (definition). This respect is particularly emphasized for teachers, students, and colleagues. The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "A Muslim is the brother of a Muslim; he does not wrong him, nor does he abandon him, nor does he despise him." And: "It is enough evil for a person to despise his Muslim brother." And: "Every Muslim's blood, wealth, and honor are sacred to another Muslim." He, peace and blessings be upon him, also said: "He is not one of us who does not show mercy to our young and does not acknowledge the honor of our elders."
