Is it permissible to attend weddings that involve transgressions if not attending would lead to the sorrow of relatives or the severing of ties with them?

It is not permissible to attend weddings that include reprehensible acts such as alcohol, musical instruments, and unlawful mixing, except for one who is able to change them. Otherwise, one should not attend. It is permissible to attend the feast at a time other than when the reprehensible acts are occurring, or in a place where they are not witnessed. Whoever refrains from attending reprehensible acts to please Allah, Allah will suffice him concerning the people, for the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Whoever seeks Allah's pleasure despite people's displeasure, Allah will suffice him concerning the people. And whoever seeks people's pleasure despite Allah's displeasure, Allah will entrust him to the people."
