Is it permissible to maintain kinship ties using Zakat funds? And what are the conditions for that?

It is permissible for a Muslim to give his zakat to his poor and needy relatives, and they are more deserving of it than others, based on the saying of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him: "Charity given to a poor person is charity, and to a relative, it is two: maintaining kinship and charity."

The conditions for this are that they must be among the eight categories of recipients entitled to zakat mentioned in the Quran, that the payment is made with the intention of fulfilling the obligatory zakat, and that the zakat-giver is not already obligated to provide for their maintenance.
