Scholars differ on the covering of the face, and the preponderant opinion according to us is its obligation. Therefore, you must adhere to covering it and not neglect it for the sake of study. However, if there is no alternative to uncovering the face to continue your studies, and you are in need of it and cannot find another means that suffices you, then there is no sin in adopting the view of those who permit uncovering the face. You should limit your presence at the university to the extent of your need. It is permissible for an ignorant person to follow a scholarly opinion and to adopt a concession from the sayings of scholars when there is a dire need, without seeking out every concession. It is also permissible to uncover the face if you fear severe harm from wearing the niqab, bearing in mind that Hanafī and Mālikī scholars have issued fatwas regarding the obligation of covering the face and hands when there is a fear of temptation by them or for them.
