Are those who neglected prayer out of laziness equal to those who neglected it due to obsessive-compulsive disorder?

Abandoning prayer is a grave sin, and there is no excuse for a legally competent individual as long as their intellect is sound.

The equivalence of one who abandons prayer with another is known to Allah. As for someone overwhelmed by obsessive thoughts to the point of losing their intellect or control, we hope they have an excuse.

However, if their intellect is sound and they are able to pray, then they are sinful.

We advise repentance and adherence to prayer. The treatment for obsessive thoughts is to turn away from them and disregard them.
