Was avenging the killers of Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him) more difficult for Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) than fighting the armies of the Companions led by Talha, Al-Zubayr, and Mu'awiyah (may Allah be pleased with them)?
Ali, Talhah, and Al-Zubayr, may Allah be pleased with them, had agreed upon a reconciliation before the Battle of the Camel. However, the killers of Uthman, may Allah be pleased with him, ignited the war, fearing prosecution, causing each side to believe the other had initiated injustice. As for the Battle of Siffin, between the army of Ali and Mu'awiyah, may Allah be pleased with them both, the true reason for the fighting was the infiltrator hypocrites. Neither side in both battles wished to fight the other; rather, the spark of war was ignited by the people of injustice, namely Uthman's killers and the hypocrites. One must refrain from delving into the disputes that occurred among the Companions, believing that they arose from their independent judgments, and desist from engaging in these tribulations.
