Is it permissible to swear by the attributive (khabariyah) qualities [of Allah], and what are the sayings of the people of knowledge concerning that, and who agreed with Sheikh Al-Uthaymeen or disagreed with him, and what is their argument?

"Khabari (attributive) Sifat" are defined as those attributes established through textual reports, such as "the Face, the Hands, and the Shin." The doctrine of Ahl al-Sunnah wa al-Jama'ah is to affirm them as they have come, while believing in Allah's transcendence above resemblance to creation. The fundamental principle is the permissibility of swearing by any attribute established for Allah the Almighty, because His attributes are uncreated. Swearing by types of attributes has been reported from the Prophet, peace be upon him. The Malikis and Hanbalis have permitted swearing by all of Allah's attributes, including the Khabari attributes. Sheikh al-Uthaymeen affirmed this permissibility, such as saying "I swear by the Face of Allah" and "I swear by the coming of Allah," while in other commentaries he indicated the impermissibility of swearing by purely Khabari attributes except for the Face.
