What is the relationship between philosophy and Islam, and what is the origin of Islamic philosophy?

1 min readAlso available in العربية

The so-called Islamic philosophy originated from the polytheists and Sabians of India, Greece, and the People of the Book, and has no connection to Islam. Ibn al-Qayyim states that this philosophy contradicts religion and the word of Allah, being based on the opinions of the Greeks, Majus (Zoroastrians), idolaters, and Sabians, whereas true knowledge is derived from revelation. This philosophy entered among Muslims in the late second century Hijri, leading to the emergence of sects, controversies, and the proliferation of scholastic theology (ilm al-kalam).
