Allah Almighty said: (Say, "You have not [yet] believed; but say, 'We have submitted,' for faith has not yet entered your hearts.") Clarify the difference between Iman (faith) and Islam (submission).

All praise is due to Allah. The text clarifies the difference between Iman (faith) and Islam (submission) by interpreting the noble verse. Iman is affirmation with tranquility of heart and complete trust in Allah, and the agreement of the heart, tongue, and limbs. As for Islam, it is uttering the two testimonies (Shahadatayn) along with performing outward deeds. Thus, if they are mentioned together in a text, they differ in meaning: Iman refers to inward matters, and Islam refers to outward actions. This is further affirmed by the Hadith (definition) of Jibreel, which detailed the five pillars of Islam and the six pillars of Iman.
