Is donating to websites that serve Islamic da'wah considered an ongoing waqf, even if the website ceases to exist or is shut down? Does this donation suffice in place of donating to other areas? Endowment (Waqf) is a charitable act and a financial devotion that the Prophet (peace be upon him) instituted and encouraged. He informed us that its reward does not cease with the death of the endower, unlike other acts of worship whose rewards cease upon death. The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "When a person dies, his deeds come to an end except for three: ongoing charity, knowledge from which others benefit, or a righteous child who prays for him." The best areas for endowment are those most needed by Muslims and those with broader benefits, and a benefit that extends to others is better than one that is limited.

Endowing money for websites that disseminate knowledge and dispel misconceptions is among the best uses for endowments, for two reasons: First, disseminating knowledge and calling to Allah are among the strongest means of guidance. The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "By Allah, that Allah guides one man through you is better for you than having red camels." Second, benefiting from these websites in spreading knowledge is broader than any other method.

If a website ceases operation or is canceled, this does not mean that the reward stops. The knowledge that the website spread continues to accrue reward until the Day of Judgment. The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "Indeed, among what continues to reach a believer of his deeds and good deeds after his death is knowledge that he taught and spread." The supervisor of the endowment can allocate the endowed money to another charitable project if the continuation of the website becomes impossible.
