What is the ruling on selling glass coffee cups with "There is no god but Allah, Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah" written on them?
Source: FtawySummarized from the full answer at Ftawy · imported Sep 2, 2026
There is no objection to buying and selling cups inscribed with the word of Tawhid (Oneness of God) or Islamic شعائر (symbols/rituals), and using them for drinking, as long as this does not violate their respect. However, it is preferable to avoid this, fearing they might be exposed to disrespect. But if it is known or strongly suspected that the buyer will disrespect them or use them for forbidden purposes, then it is not permissible to sell them to him.
