Belief in divine decree (al-qadar) is the conviction that everything that occurs in the universe transpires with Allah's knowledge and predestination. It has four levels: knowledge, writing, will and intention, and creation and power. Belief in divine decree does not mean abandoning action; rather, one must act in obedience to Allah and rely upon Him, because one does not know what has been decreed for them, and Allah has granted them the ability to choose, for which they will be held accountable. The fruits of belief in divine decree include: peace of mind, tranquility of soul, increase in faith, contentment, and patience in adversity. One should not delve deeply into the concept of divine decree.
