What is the duration of shortening prayers for a traveler who is still residing in a hotel for a long period (3 years) before settling in his home?

The madhhab of the majority of scholars is that whoever intends to reside in a country for a period of four days or more loses the designation of a traveler and becomes a resident. He must, therefore, complete the prayer from the time of his arrival, whether he stays in a hotel or elsewhere.
